A MTV divulgou nessa quinta-feira (30) através do Twitter, a lista de indicados ao VMA 2020, cuja premiação está marcada para acontecer no próximo mês, no dia 30 de agosto, na arena Barclays Center, localizada em Nova Iorque.
Dentre todos os nomeados, as cantoras Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande lideram no número de indicações recebidas, incluindo a parceria que fizeram na canção “Rain On Me“, que concorre em seis categorias. Já Billie Eilish, que foi um grande destaque no Grammy desse ano, levou seis ao todo, assim como o cantor The Weeknd. Taylor Swift, que lançou um novo álbum recentemente, recebeu cinco por seu projeto anterior, incluindo a categoria de clipe do ano com “The Man”.
Se adequando a nova realidade do isolamento social em tempos de pandemia, duas novas categorias foram criadas para essa edição, sendo elas “Melhor Videoclipe Feito em Casa” e “Melhor Performance em Quarentena”, com destaque ao grupo latino CNCO, que tem criado conteúdo caseiro durante esse período e também concorre a “Melhor Coreografia” pelo videoclipe de “Honey Boo”, colaboração que fez com a dominicana Natti Natasha.
